The Hundred Headless Women PaperbackMay 2008Ma Nose Studios is pleased to announce the publication of a new paperback version of Pamela Joseph’s The Hundred Headless Women. The name pays homage to Max Ernst’s brilliant novel of collages and engravings from 1929, The Hundred Headless Woman. Joseph’s book is based on a series of wood-burned kitchen cutting boards of women in perilous situations, executed from 2001 until 2006. The images were originally created for the artist’s traveling exhibition, The Sideshow of the Absurd. The book’s theme appeals to a wide variety of individuals, people not only interested in the fine arts but also in the modern primitive movement, tattoos, absurdist humor, feminist history, comics, etc. The size is 9.50” x 6.75”. There are 167 pages, and the cover is a nicely textured substantial weight paper. Download Press Release. The paperback has been printed in an edition of 3000 copies. The Institute for Electronic Arts, Alfred University, Alfred, New York and MA Nose Studios Inc., Aspen, Colorado are the co-publishers, and includes essays by Molly Tambour, Sue Scott and James Surls. The anticipated retail price will be $25.00. For purchase inquiries, please send email to: rab@manose.com. |
